The AMIPSR is published monthly by Barry and Dantia Gould.
Dantia Gould is a writer and editor with over 40 years experience in newspaper, newsletter, research report and publicity writing. Currently, she is editor of Anna Maria Island Property Sales Report, a monthly newsletter launched in 2004 to provide information on property transactions and trends for real estate investors on Anna Maria Island.
Active in the community, she is president of the Sarasota-Manatee Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa; serves as a member of the Holmes Beach (FL) Parks & Beautification Committee; acts as the citys representative for Keep Manatee Beautiful as well as serving as vice chairman and executive committee member of that organization; and is part of the group coordinating the April 1, 2006 Island Garden Tour on Anna Maria Island. Prior to the launch of AMIPSR, Dantia Gould was co-owner with her husband, Barry Gould, and editor for Gould Media, a newsletter and report publishing company focusing on television sports and pay-per-view. For ten years, the company also sponsored seminars throughout the U.S. on a variety of topics. The company was sold in November 2002, with Dantia Gould remaining as a consultant to the new owner. During the heyday of pay-per-view programming, Dantia Gould was dubbed the “pay-per-view maven” and was quoted frequently in many publications, including USA Today and the New York Times.
From February 1974 until April 1982, Dantia Gould was editor and vice president, Knowledge Industry Publications, a publisher of trade newsletters and reports. She supervised editorial content of five newsletters and also wrote book-length research reports on topics ranging from book publishing to advanced library technology.
Dantia Gould also served as managing editor of a variety of weekly newspapers in Westchester County, NY and was a publicity assistant for Seventeen magazine and ghostwriter for long-time Seventeen magazine publisher Enid Haupt.
Barry Gould, a licensed real estate professional with Island Vacation Properties, LLC of Holmes Beach has been a top producer for the agency since joining the firm in 2002. He specializes in working with large, professional investors with the vision, experience and resources to purchase and upgrade some of Anna Maria Islands long established and historic resort properties.
Barry Gould, along with his partner, Ted Schlegel has been involved in the sale of resort properties including the Sand Pebble Resort, Alamanda Villa, Beach House Resort, Anna Maria Island Beach Resort, Anna Maria Beach Place and Siam Garden Resort. Barry worked with clients to convert the individual rental apartments to private ownership giving the smaller investor an opportunity to own a piece on our paradise for a reasonable purchase price with higher-than-average rental income. The change in the form of ownership allows the resorts to stay pretty much the same in the eyes of residents and vacationers.
Barry Gould is also the listing agent for the sale of the new Palm Gables luxury units directly on the beach at 100 36th Street in Holmes Beach, which include a central six unit building and an existing three bedroom, ground level beach house that will be completely gutted, expanded and refurbished to a high level of luxury rarely available on the island.
Two other projects Barry and Ted are marketing are Starfish Beach Cottages and Palm Isle Village, both in Holmes Beach. These properties are existing ground level cottages which are being completely refurbished into charming homes close enough to the beach to hear the surf but available at a fraction of the cost of beachfront homes. Each property will have a heated pool in a lush garden setting and feature large private courtyards for each unit.
In addition to real estate sales, he has a Community Association Manager (CAM) license and manages eight condominium complexes o Anna Maria Island.
Prior to his involvement in real estate on Anna Maria Island, Barry Gould was publisher of Gould Media, an electronic and print publisher involved in television sports. A native of Maine, his first career was developing cable television systems in New England in the ’70s and ’80s.
